Park West Radiology Settles Lawsuit With CareCore National

January 12, 2010 | Corporate | Health Services

On December 16th, Park West Radiology, a practice of Lenox Hill-affiliated radiologists, agreed to a settlement with CareCore National, a radiology benefit management company used by major insurers in the New York City and Long Island areas. Park West agreed to withdraw the antitrust lawsuit that it had filed against CareCore and entered into a business agreement allowing Park West into the CareCore network.

Park West Radiology provides radiology services in New York City. CareCore administers reimbursements for insurers Aetna, GHI, HIP, Healthnet and Oxford. After Park West submitted an application to CareCore for certification to be included in the CareCore network of practices eligible for health insurance reimbursements, CareCore denied the application based on “lack of geographic need” for a practice in that area. Park West filed the lawsuit in 2007, contending that CareCore monopolized the medical imaging services market by allowing only a geographically limited number of radiology practices in CareCore’s network.

Several other radiology practices have filed similar lawsuits against CareCore in the last few years.
